Janice Ellis is a 23 year old emerging artist from Toronto. Being of Jamaican & Ghanaian decent she grew up with a very broad background of both cultures. She attended York University for dance & then proceeded to attend George Brown College for Early Childhood Education. While in school she discovered many competitive hip hop teams around the city. Being a part of groups like theTEAM and IE Crew & experiencing the industry life has helped her grow mentally as a dancer.
She started training in afrobeats 8 years ago. At first it was just a hobbie but then slowly turned into a lifestyle & passion for her. Hip hop was also her main style of dance but she started to realize that with afrobeats she was able to release and express more. Afrobeats just felt like home for her and she eventually turned to it as her main. She has been trained by Esie Mensah, Martin Prempeh, Bizzy Boom & many more. Having the opportunity to work with and perform/ open up for multiple Afrobeats artist like Mr. Eazi, Yemi Alade, Kiss Daniel & Davido have been the major highlights of her career. Future wise she hopes that many more opportunities will come her way. Travelling, connecting & sharing her passion for afro with others is one of her prime goals for the next couple of years. She is excited to also share & connect with all the students she will come in contact with throughout this journey.
