Born & trained in Cuba, first with Classical Ballet and subsequently Modern at La ENA, Havana, Cuba, Arsenio gained a BFA & professional credentials in Modern Dance Performance & Teaching. He joined Compania Danza Teatro del Caribe as Principal
Dancer & Tutor, directed by Cuban cultural icon, Eduardo Rivero Walker, & then the National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica, under the artistic directorship of Professor Rex Nettleford. He has toured extensively internationally as a dancer & choreographer, & has worked with various companies and organizations, including CARIFESTA Suriname 2013 as creative consultant/choreographer.
Moving to Toronto in 2010, Arsenio teaches Cuban Modern Contemporary & traditional dance forms on the faculty at Ryerson University’s degree Dance Program, as well with other companies & schools in Toronto. Continuing to contribute to the international dancescape, he continues to be artist in residence in CoDanco Suriname (since 1999) & choreographed for The Company Dance Theatre, Jamaica in 2018. He teaches with Kenny Pearl’s Fall and Winter Dance Intensives. He has choreographed for & performed in Dance Ontario 2017, was a 2018 Dora Mayor dance adjudicator and has participated as a presenter in On The Move 2018.
