Choreographic Statement:
"In Trinidad and Tobago the word Mas or to play Mas derives its meaning from the word masquerade, which has one of its meanings as an assembly or parade of persons wearing masks, and amusing themselves with dancing, conversation, or other diversions. Mas-k is an exploration of a Caribbean woman's struggle for identity in a post-colonial Caribbean. The complex duality of society enslaves her. Her dress is a metaphor or colonial ideology imposed on her as she struggles for her identity as a Caribbean woman."
Original Cast:
Sarah Anthony, Charmaine Headley
Music:
Clive Zander and Anisse Hadeed
Costumes:
BaKari E. Lindsay
