Richard "Popcorn"
Cumberbatch, was born on the sister island of Trinidad, of the twin-isle state of Trinidad
and Tobago, has been playing Caribbean Indigenous drums since the age of 11. He has
performed throughout Ontario, other parts of Canada, and the USA. "Popcorn" has
been associated with several dance companies, folk choirs, poets, cultural organizations,
Inner Stage Theatre and Theatre People Company. His musical interests do not end with the
drumming, but also extends to the Steel pan or any other instrument he can place his hands
on.
