Roger Gibbs Toronto-based / arranger / composer has had an active career in the Caribbean community, both in Canada and Barbados - his birthplace. As lead singer of a calypso band in the late '60s, Roger cut his teeth along side brother Chris of the legendary Merrymen.
Roger Gibbs is a Barbadian-born singer-guitarist and recording artist who performs and teaches Caribbean Acoustic and Calypso. He has worked across Canada, U.S. and the Caribbean and been a member of the performing company COBA (Collective of Black Artists) since 1995. With two solo CDs - Spirit of Calypso and Calypso Classics on Guitar - Roger is also lead singer of a classic calypso band, Shak-Shak, and in 2009 was an Artistic Director for the Scotiabank Caribana Festival.
